Alert: Major WOW Phone Outage, Emergency Lines Working

UPDATE: Phone lines are back up as of 7 am Dec. 16.

Avon Lake Wide Open West (WOW) customers are experiencing a major phone outage. 

Fire Chief Glen Eisenhardt has this message Dec. 15:

"There is major WOW (Wide Open West) phone outage effecting the Cleveland area as well as a couple other major markets. The fire department does have working emergency lines for 911 and 933-2121 but we have do not have any non-emergency line access for 933-8305 and 933-3739.

Also our ability to place outgoing calls has been affected as well. Residents may call the 933-2121 number for all fire department business until the system has been restored.

If a resident attempts to call the non working numbers they will hear that "all circuits are busy" or nothing at all."
