Avon Lake Woman Cited in Accident that Injured 2, Including an Avon Officer

Accident closed SR 83 for about an hour.

An Avon Lake woman was cited for failure to yield in a May 22 accident that resulted in two people being taken to the hospital, including one by Life Flight. SR 83 was closed briefly as a result of the accident that occurred last Wednesday.

Avon Police Chief Richard Bosley said the accident involved four vehicles.

According to Bosley, a Honda Odyssey driven by Cheryl Hecker of Avon Lake was travelling southbound on SR 83 and was attempting to turn left into Fitch’s Farm Market.  The driver allegedly turned in front of a Chevy Colorado travelling northbound, driven by Andrew Kehl of Avon. The Chevy Colorado struck the side of the Honda Odyssey, which in turn caused the Odyssey to strike a Lexus LS400 driven by Dana Tomovich of Brunswick. The Lexus was stopped in the driveway of the farm market.  The Chevy Colorado then veered off of the Odyssey, went left of center, and went head on into a Chevy Equinox driven by Sharon Oberrath of North Ridgeville.
