Police Chief Richard Bosley said he is hoping to fill two open positions. The city budgets for 34 officers and the department currently has 32. These openings are from retirements in 2011, Bosley said.

"I'm looking forward to us being at full strength again," he said.

Both of the openings are for full-time positions, Bosley said.

The opening for the captain position created when Bosley was promoted to chief to replace Paul Romond after Romond's retirement last summer will be filled internally and not by an applicant taking this test, Bosley said. The test for the Captain position will be done sometime this spring.

The city's civil service list, from which it hires police officers, expired last year, Bosley explained. So a new civil list will be created from those who take the test.

That new list will be good for one year, with the city's civil service commission having the option to make it good for a second year, Bosley expliained.
