Crash on Long Road sends several to hospitals

Minivan struck fence, then tree

Six people, including four children, were taken to area hospitals after a minivan went off Long Road and struck a tree on Tuesday afternoon, requiring ambulances from neighboring towns to be called out.

Ambulances from North Ridgeville and Sheffield Village were called in, but Sheffield Village's ambulances were turned back.

  said the accident happened just before 5 p.m. Holly Brunke, 56, of Avon, was heading west on Long Road when she went left of center on a curve, lost control of her minivan, then struck a split-rail fence and a tree at 3888 Long Road.

said the injured were taken to Avon Emergency Care Center and Fairview Hospital. One of the department's engine trucks was at the crash site to assist.

Police described the injuries to Brunke and the others in the minivan -- an 18-year-old man, a 13-year-old boy, an 8-year-old girl, a 14-year-old boy and a 10-year-0ld boy -- as minor.

Brunke was cited for reasonable control, police said.
