Police Blotter: Vandalism, Animal Issues

The following arrest information was supplied by the Avon police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A home and car  in the 33700 block of North Fall Lake Drive were vandalized with shaving cream, toilet paper, stickers and sports drinks in the early hours of June 16.

The homeowner’s son told Avon police it may have been done by another boy he owes money to. Police suggested to him to make it known among the other neighborhood kids that any further shenanigans would lead to criminal charges.

Poor Dog

A shepherd-type dog was taken to the Avon police kennel after it was found tied to a tree with no food, water or shelter in the 35500 block of Detroit Road around 4 p.m. on June 16.

This came after the dog, on the long rope, was blocking traffic near the entrance to Heritage North Elementary School.

The dog’s owner, Greg Westgate, was cited, police said, and the dog was released to him.

Water, Water Everywhere

An Avon family will have a not-so-happy homecoming from their vacation after their home sustained water damage the evening of June 16. Water was pouring out a second-floor window when police arrived, and the fire department shut off power to the home because of all the water. The house will be under extra patrols by police until the homeowners return.
