Woman Cited For Hitting 87-Year-Old Man on Bicycle

An Avon Lake woman was cited after hitting and critically injuring an 87-year-old man on a bicycle Sept. 3. 

The woman, Carol O'Toole, 43, of Avon Lake was cited with failure to yield while turning onto a roadway, after pulling out of St. Joseph Church on Lake Road in Avon Lake. 

George Rockas, 87, remains hospitalized at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, in fair condition according to MetroHealth Media Specialist Kristin Anderson. 

Rockas was traveling westbound on Electric just after 8 p.m. when he was hit by O'Toole's car. 

He was flown to MetroHealth Medical Center immediately after being hit. 

Avon Lake residents Carsten and Kelly Anderson snapped some footage of the Life Flight helicopter taking off with Rockas.
