Candidate Statement:

As councilman,  I would focus my efforts on economic development by creating programs for new businesses while retaining current businesses. Additionally, I will work to continue the development of the city parks and services for the betterment of Avon Lake residents. I will also support the continued investment in our city streets and sewer separation projects. As a business owner, I am also familiar with all facets of negotiatiions and budgets. My experience will be beneficial to the residents of Ward 1 as well as the entire city.

As a result of owning a construction company, I am well versed in all types of construction and am experienced with negotiating short and long term contracts. Clearly, these capabilities will prove beneficial with prospective contractors, especially with street repairs and sewer separation projects. Currently, I successfully employ between 120 and 160 personnel from multiple facilities. I am not only prepared to lead an organization but am anxious to be part of one that enhances my community.

My vision for Avon Lake is a balanced blend of community and business while maintaining continuity with all divisions of government including our excellent school system.

I have not only made Avon Lake my home, but I have already established deep roots here like many of my other family members. My sister, Bridget Elias, is an English teacher  and department chairperson, my sister, Jeanine Coe, is an Avon police officer, my uncle, Tim Gareau, has been an Avon Lake resident and police officer for more than 30 years, and my brother, Marty Gallagher, is my business partner at Suntan Supply in Avon.

Anyone who truly knows me will confirm that I do not want to stand on the sidelines and watch. I want to be a productive member of the community who is willing to contribute and listen without hesitation.

Please consider Bill Gallagher on Nov. 8.
