Five Things: Summer Weather, Oktoberfest, Blood Drive

A lot going on in Avon this week

  1. Someone wants your blood, and it's not Edward Cullen. The Avon Police Department is holding a beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday at the police station, located at 36145 Detroit Road. Each person who donates blood gets a free t-shirt. Kids will be able to explore fire trucks and police cars.
  2. While this week's forecast isn't quite as hot as last week, it's still going to be quite warm, with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s. Check out our events and directory listings to find options for keeping cool.
  3. As much as some of us don't want to think about it, fall will be here eventually. Have some fun at the 36th annual  at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church on Sunday.
  4. Head over to  for its second annual from noon to 9 p.m. on Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday. The event features Macedonian food and wine, entertainment, raffles, dancing and other family fun.
  5. Enjoy the beauty of the great outdoors by going on the at 2 p.m. Saturday at French Creek Reservation in Sheffield Village.
