  1. The continue their push for a playoff berth as the final week of the regular season begins. They're off Monday, and open the final home series of the regular season Tuesday against the the Washington Wild Things at . Their final series of the season is at the Traverse City Beach Bums, the team challenging the Crushers for the second and final Frontier League Eastern Division playoff spot.
  2. The is pulling into Avon on . The conservative rally at will feature appearances by former "Saturday Night Live" star Victoria Jackson and musician Lloyd Marcus. Could we be getting another special guest, like a presidential hopeful? Stay tuned...
  3. Avon August break continues, and there is no meeting on Monday. The next meeting is a work session on Tuesday, Sept. 6.
  4. Like to check out cool houses? Tour the Weltzheimer/Johnson house, designed by legendary architect Frank Lloyd Wright and the first of his Usonian houses in Ohio, in Oberlin from 12 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
  5. Summer's last blast comes with Labor Day weekend. So far, the weather is looking warm with highs around 80 degrees and a chance of thunderstorms Saturday and Sunday.
