Issue 2 Supports Lorain County Transit

Approval would generate $250,000 annually for system.

Lorain County Commissioners are asking for an additional .04 mills levy to support the Lorain County Transit system. The 5-year levy, if approved, Issue 2 will cost voters about $2 per year and if approved, would generate approximately $250,000 per year, allowing the county to add additional routes to the current system.

County Commissioners said the $250,000 collected could double with matching funds.

Presently, Lorain County operates a service between Elyria and Lorain. In 2010, the Avon and Avon Lake community connectors were cut. Other lines throughout Lorain County were also cut in 2009 and 2010 during budget cuts in the County.
