Lundy said jobs will be a priority.

“My focus will always be jobs,” Lundy told Avon-Avon Lake Patch. “We offer a great quality of life and a talented workforce. I believe in working together. When we work together as one county, we can achieve great goals.”

Lundy will face Williams

Lorain County Commissioner Tom Williams, who was elected in 2010 and began service in 2011, said he will run again.

Williams, a Republican said he feels the county needs balanced representation.

“The last 100 years it’s been controlled by one party (Democratic),” Williams said. He believes he is the first Republican to seek re-election since the 1930s.

Williams said he will be running on a platform of continuing the upward trend the county has experienced in the past few years due in part, to Lorain County Commissioner leadership.

“We reduced the budget,” he said. “We went from a projected deficit of $10 million to surplus of $8 million. We had an $8 million carryover and we’re projecting another $6 million to $8 million carryover. We put on more sheriff’s deputies on the road.”
