Another phase of construction work on the is set to begin this week, and it could affect how you get around the area.
Beginning Monday, a 500-foot stretch of Nagel Road north of Chester and south of Lear Industrial Parkway will be closed to traffic for approximately two months.
Lear Industrial Parkway is the detour for Nagel Road traffic. See the attached map to get a visual on closures and detours.
Work being done includes widening and improving Nagel Road.
All the businesses in the area will be accessible, but the Nagel Road entrance to the will be closed for the duration of this phase, which is expected to be about two months. Use the Just Imagine Drive entrance to get to the Jacobs Health Center.
Nagel Road from just past the Jacobs Health Center entrance south to Chester Road will be widened at a later date, which will lead to that bit of Nagel being closed then.
Don Damyanic, project manager for the City of Avon on the interchange project, urges people to not drive in the area unless they are coming to one of the businesses there. Thru traffic to and from Avon Lake should use Jaycox Road or Route 83.
"My concern is safety, not only for the drivers, but for the workers," he said. "The fewer people we have driving there, the safer it is for everyone."
