Avon, Avon Lake Rank in The Top 30 Richest School Districts in Ohio

Richest district in United States is in New York State.

The city of Avon ranks 16th of richest school districts in Ohio with a median income of  $60,407 according to a study released this week.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported the information in a “snapshot” of 614 school districts on Aug. 13, basing its findings on Previous Statistical Snapshots, Data Central Index and Data Central home

Information gathered was from Ohio Department of Taxation, 2010 tax returns.

Avon Lake ranked 26th richest with a median income of $55,355.26.

Olentangy Local School District ranked first at $76,444. The district is located in Delaware County.

Ohio pales in comparison to some of the richest school districts in the United States.

According to a June 2012 Wall Street Journal article, Scarsdale Union Free School District in New York is the wealthiest with a median household income of $238,000, followed by Weston School District in Connectict with a median household income of $209,630 and Riverdale School District in Oregon with a median household income of $199,167.

The poorest school district in the United States, according to the Wall Street Journal, is Barbourville Independent School District, KY, with a median household income of $16,607.

The Plain Dealer ranked New Boston School District as the poorest, with a median household income of $18,928.
