Sign Up For a Library Card, Get a BUGS Backpack

Winning Avon Lake school will win a Drew Murray Magic show.

What can you do to help your child get ready to read?  

Whether it is being read to as a small child or coming to the Library for story time, reading has been a proven link to a child’s success in school.  

Avon Lake Public Library is hoping to help with that link and encouraging children to sign up for a library card.  

September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month. As part of this celebration, 
Avon Lake Public Library is running a campaign called BUGS (Books Unlock Great 
Stories).  

Students in grades K-4 from Erieview, Eastview, Westview, Redwood and St. Joseph schools have been invited to enter into a little friendly competition.  

During the month of September students in grades K-4 are encouraged to come to the Library (with parent or guardian) and sign up for their very own library card. They will receive a FREE BUGS backpack (funded by an Ohio Early Literacy and Reading Readiness Grant).  

The school with the highest percentage of new library cards will win a Drew Murray Magic Show for the entire school.
