Avon Lake’s Willoughby Nets 1000th Point in Win over Lorain; Team Now 19-0

Victory on Friday could give Shoremen SWC title.

The Avon Lake Shoremen remained perfect after a non-league 75-60 victory over Lorain High School on Feb. 22. Playing in front of a raucous home crowd, the team improved to 19-0 on a night that saw one of its top players, senior guard Ron Willoughby, score 17 points to reach the 1,000-point mark.

The team took a time out to acknowledge the milestone, then went on to finish off the Lorain High Titans.

Willoughby is the fourth player in Avon Lake High School history to reach the mark.
