Lake Erie Crushers Pound Out 17 Hits to Win Fourth Straight

Crushers within one win of .500

It was a hit parade at Friday night as the had 17 hits and beat the Evansville Otters, 13-2, to get their fourth win in a row.

The Crushers improved to 34-35 with the win. They're 1 1/2 games behind the Traverse City Beach Bums for the final Frontier League Eastern Division playoff spot.

Andrew Davis led the Crushers' offense with three hits and four RBI. Jason Taylor had two hits, three RBI and scored a run.

The bottom three in the Crushers batting order -- Evan Sharpley, Brian Erie, and Robby Kuzdale -- went 9-for-11, scored six runs and drove in two, according to a report from the team. Brie had four hits, scored two runs and had one RBI.

Paul Fagan (5-0, 4.29 earned run average) pitched seven innings, giving up two runs on seven hits while striking out one and walking two to get the win.

The Crushers and Otters play at 7:05 Saturday. Randy Sturgill (5-1, 2.87) starts for the Crushers.
