Crushers hang onto lead in playoff chase

The ' franchise-record 10-game winning streak was ended Saturday night as the Evansville Otters beat them, 12-7, in Evansville, Ind.

Despite the loss, the Crushers (40-36) hang onto a half-game lead over the Traverse City Beach Bums for second place in the Frontier League Eastern Division.

The Otters' got 17 hits off Crushers pitchers, including 14 off starter Josh Roberts (8-5, 4.37 earned run average). Roberts also gave up nine runs while striking out three and walking one.

Patrick Norris did not reach base, ending his 20-game on-base streak. Brian Erie had two hits and an RBI to lead the Crushers offense. Kyle Shaffer hit a two-run home run.

The Crushers finish the series at Evansville on Sunday with a 2:05 p.m. game. Paul Fagan (5-9, 4.17) gets the start for the Crushers.
