Shoremen Harriers Remain Competive at Strongsville

Boys, girls cross country compete in highly competitive race.

Avon Lake High School's Shoremen competed at the Strongsville Invitational last Saturday at Strongsville High School. Similar to the Tiffin race, this race is highly competitive and had a number of state ranked teams competing at it. The Shoremen were competitive despite having a number of runners sidelined with injuries.

With 165 runners in the boys varsity race, senior Tom Parsons paced the Shorement to a 14th place finish out of 20 teams. Parsons placed 20th overall with a PR of 16:52. Following Tom were junior Tim Vallari (56th), sophomore Trent Glasser (67th), junior James Darkow (77th), freshman Patrick Shulte (106th), sophomore Riley Jantz, senior Mike Callessen, and sophomore Chip Connolly (54th). The varsity Shoremen were missing juniors Devin Arora and Nick Nix due to injuries.

The young and competitive varsity Shoregals finished 15h of 22 teams in a field with well over 170 runners. Freshman Allie Spensley paced the Shoregals with a strong 60th place finish. Allie was followed by teammates junior Jessica Lambert (69), senior Annie Wennerberg (77), Audrey Spensley (82), freshman Julia Jantz (92), Marisa Gerrone, Katey Faber, Anna McNight and Megan Novotny.
