Snapshot: ALMU Employees Ditch Cars for Bike to Work Day

Employee logs 131 miles in one month.

Four employees ditched their cars and biked to work on Bike To Work Day, May 18. Logging the most miles since May 1 were Ted Popiel (155) and Rick Eberle (52).

Popiel, ALMU's Chief Lab Analyst, is a physical fitness enthusiast and competes annually in swim, bike and run competitions. Chief of Utilities Operations Eberle participated in this year’s Ohio/Michigan Tough Mudder team event. They are also part of an ALMU team that has signed up for the Cleveland Bike Challenge, a friendly competition among employer-based teams to see who can log the most bike miles from May 1–Aug. 31. Other ALMU team members are Todd Danielson, Kris Kral, Bernie Bruder, Dale Sadowski, Bobby Kimevski, Jeremy Pijor, and Steve Heimlich.

The 2012 Cleveland Bike Challenge is part of the National Bike Challenge which aims to inspire and empower millions of Americans to ride their bikes for transportation, recreation and better health. To learn how you can take part, go to www.endomondo.com/campaign/national/ for more information.
