Viewfinder: Avon Hosts Reynolds Relays

Records fall at annual track and field event

The annual Reynolds Relays, named for legendary coach Jim Reynolds, provided plenty of excitment on April 30 as many meet records fell.

Teams from fourteen area high schools competed in the relays on a beautiful, sunny day at Avon Stadium.

The shuttle hurdle team of Rachel Olach, Alex LaSalla, Mallory Balmert, and Jalen Davis set a new school record of 1:08.74 on Saturday. The hurdle relay team finished first in the event, outpacing the fourteen competing teams.

The distance medley relay team of Connor Friss, Matt Veilhaber, Sam Bickley and Tyler Kvach bested their school record, placing third.  Nate Furnas beat his school long jump record, leaping 21' 1 1/2 " to finish in third place with teammate Brian Healey.

In the end, the boys team from Trinity edged Westlake to finish first and the girls competition was won by Twinsburg.  Check out the Avon Athletics website for a meet recap.
