Drum Roll! Free Movies! And a Kids’ Event Not To Be Missed

Looking for something to do this weekend? If you live on the North Coast, you’re in luck. You won’t have to stray far from home to enjoy these activities this weekend. From Friday night’s Movie under the stars to Sunday night’s free concert in the park, we’ve found plenty for you to do.

What better way to spend a Friday evening than on a blanket or lawn chair watching Will Ferrell? The Avon Lake Parks & Recreation Department is hosting its final Movie Under the Stars, Friday, Aug. 4 at . The final outdoor movie screening of the summer will be at sundown (about 8:45 p.m.)  The feature presentation is Kicking and Screaming starring Will Ferrell.

Bring family, friends, and a blanket or lawn chair to enjoy a free show while watching the show on a giant inflatable movie screen.

It’s a rare stop in Northeast Ohio for the Drum Corps International tour and for one night only, Memorial Stadium will be filled with the sounds and sights of seven marching bands from around the country. Single tickets are $8-12 Presale,and $10-15 at the gate.

           

Grab the kids, some (new) school supplies or make a donation to gain entrance to the second annual Kids Fest on Saturday. From 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Weiss Field, enjoy a free lunch, bounce houses, and a concert by the local girl band G-Force. Donated supplies will go to to benefit children in Avon and Avon Lake.

 

The last three Avon Lake Parks & Recreation Summer Concerts are coming up and Sunday, Aug. 5 features the Patriots Symphonic Band, Genre-Concert Band at in Avon Lake.

The Cleveland-area band includes many “home-towners.” Enjoy an evening filled with music, then stick around to watch a beautiful Lake Erie sunset off the fishing pier. Concerts take place at the Miller Road Park Gazebo and start promptly at 6:30pm. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket

 

Don’t miss the final Vacation Bible School. The church will hold its  final session of VBS in the sanctuary and then head outside for games, food, a bounce house and a dunk tank. Free.
