Weekend Events Are Plentiful...Here Are Our Top 5

It's another event-filled weekend locally. From car shows to a FriendsFest and County Fair, there's plenty to do. Here are some of our picks.

Join the “Friends of the Library” and meet other friends at the Friends annual event on Aug. 25 from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. at the .  The Friends Fest includes hot dogs, popcorn, face painting, used book sale, a bounce house, steel drum entertainment and more. All free for Friends members.
Memberships start at $10 for an individual, $15 for a family.

Love hot rods? Love dogs? Then don’t miss the Wheels For Wags Benefit Car Show benefiting the  Friendship APL of Lorain County is Saturday, Aug. 25 (Rain date Sept. 1.) from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at . Not only can you see some awesome cars, vehicle owners can win awards. Don’t miss door prizes, music and food (including a bake sale). Entry donation is $10 per vehicle; pre-registration is $8 (includes free lunch).

Have a wheelchair you’re not using? Donate it to Wheels for the World. will be collecting wheelchairs from 9 am - 2 pm on Aug. 25. The wheelchairs will be repaired as needed and sent to people with disabilities in Third World as part of Wheels for the World campaign.

It’s more than just a football game. Tonight’s opener at features a tailgate party, a contest to raise the most non-perishable food items and the perfect night for a football game. Shuttles available from Bleser Park.  Festivities start at 5:30; game is at 7.

Lorain County Fair continues through Sunday

It’s a bit of a drive to Wellington, but the Lorain County Fair is always a good time. Don’t miss the tractor, horse and pony pulls, the truck derby, lawn mower races and the demolition derby.
