Smiles For Sophie Fundraiser at Applebee's May 19

Get a great meal and help out the Smiles for Sophie organization in the process. Don't miss the raffle between 4 p.m and 7 p.m.

The Smiles For Sophie Forever (SFSF) organization is hosting a fundraiser May 19, one of several fundraisers that will benefit the organization in the upcoming months.

If you're planning on eating lunch or dinner on Thursday, head up to in Avon Commons. On May 19, Applebee's will donate 15 percent of your check to Smiles For Sophie Forever for all eat-in and curbside to go meals.

From 4 p.m. -9 p.m. SFSF board members will be there with raffle baskets and a 50/50 raffle.

Diners must print a flyer and present it to your server or carside to go specialist. Please visit www.smilesforsophieforever.org to download your flyer. This fundraiser is valid at the Avon Commons Applebee's location only. 

Smiles for Sophie Forever is an Avon Lake non-profit that has a three pronged mission: providing financial support to families who have a child battling a brain tumor; increasing global awareness of pediatric brain tumors and the serious lack of funding for this research; and, providing financial support for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.

Founded by Marc and Emily Quayle, in less than four years SFSF has given over $134,000 in family grants, $32,000 to the Cure Starts Now, and $15,000 to St. Jude's.

The organization was started in honor of the Quayle's daughter, Sophie, who died from a brain tumor on Oct. 6, 2007. The organization will again host the popular Fourth of July (Sophie's birthday) Birthday Bash and Dash starting at Walker Road Part at 9 a.m. Registration is available here.
